5K Walk for Ambedkar held


Amaravati: TDP leaders conducted 5K Walk from Ambedkar statue centre in Guntur as part of Dr B R Ambedkar 125th birth anniversary celebrations on Tuesday.

Speaking on this occasion, the party state general secretary, Varla Ramaiah, reminded the efforts made by the Ambedkar for the uplift of the weaker sections. Drawing inspiration from him, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was striving to implement several welfare schemes for SCs and STs, he said.

Earlier, he garlanded the statues of Ambedkar and paid  tributes to him. MLA Nakka Anand Babu urged the youth to get inspiration from Ambedkar. He said that the state government had decided to set up 125 feet statue of Ambedkar in the state capital Amaravati. He said they were conducting 5K Walk as part of Ambedkar birth anniversary celebrations.

District Collector Kantilal Dande said that Ambedkar fought against inequalities in society. Representatives of employees unions, people’s organisations were among those participated.
