Ambedkar Jayanti to be celebrated in a grand manner


Vijayawada: Social welfare minister Ravela Kishore Babu said that the state government will invite expression of interest soon from firms which are interested in setting up a 125-ft BR Ambedkar statue in Amaravati.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, he said that the government will celebrate Ambedkar Jayanti in a grand manner. The minister unveiled a poster on the programmes to be conducted in all divisions to mark the 125th birth anniversary of the ‘visionary’ leader. The foundation for six lakh houses will be laid on the occasion so that the poor finally have a roof over their heads.

The minister said that the government will provide employment opportunities for 82,000 people with the help of Rs 1000 crore from the SC Corporation. “We will provide training to Dalit youth as lakhs of jobs would be created during capital construction,” he added.
