IN A two-days meeting hosted by Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU), the programme for four State level conferences to be organised to mark 125th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, was chalked out. As per objectives of Maharashtra University Act, equality, fraternity and justice in Indian Constitution are to be spread. For fulfilment of this objective State level conference at Nagpur, Aurangabad, Pune and Mumbai will be held.
The meeting was chaired by RTMNU Vice Chancellor Dr S P Kane. He mooted the idea of forming clusters of Universities in State for holding the events. It was accepted by everybody present in the meeting. One cluster is of all universities in Nagpur and around that will be headed by Dr Kane.
The other cluster is of Aurangabad region to be headed by Dr Sudhir Meshram, V-C of North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon. Dr Wasudev Gade, the third man from Nagpur is the V-C of Pune University.
Dr Gade will lead the Pune cluster and V-C of Mumbai University Dr Sanjay Deshmukh will head the Mumbai cluster. This is the first programme in the country wherein Universities have come together. Registrar of RTMNU Puran Meshram said, “We have to create constitutional culture in State. To create the new generation ready for doing constructive work for the development of nation.
The first programme will be held at Nagpur, second in Aurangabad, third in Pune and forth at Mumbai. Inagural programme will be held at Deekshabhoomi and conclude at Chaityabhoomi, Mumbai.” Dr Sudhir Meshram, Dr Wasudev Gade, Puran Meshram, Principal of Shri Ayurved College and Regional Head of Nagpur Regional Centre of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences Dr Manisha Kothekar and others were present.
